need other info as well like origin of name personality traits etc. did come accross one a few weeks ago but cant remember what it was!!

The best way is to google whatever surname/name you want to know about. The reason is that some sites "specialize" in German-type names, others British-type, etc.

Reply:There are a number of really good books on Christian names and surnames. I have found some real rubbish on some web sites. You are not likely to find personality traits though; they hardly go with the names we have.
