Does anyone know where I can find the Christian meaning of the names .?

Does anyone know where I can find the Christian meaning of the names Paris, Jayde (Jade), and Jacquelyn. Or do you know the Christian meanings of these names? Thank you.

Jacquelyn at least I can help you with, it is a diminuative feminine form of Jacques = James or Jacob, the name of two of the twelve Apostles and a brother of Jesus. The other two are a bit questionable as Christian names. Paris is a classical name, after Paris son of Priam King of Troy (Homer's liad) but it was given to Christians by Shakespeare's time (name of Juliet's suiter in Romeo and Juliet) and Jayde I would take to be derived from the gemstone (gem names were frequently given girls in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries). James or Jacob means Supplanter.

Many larger dictionaries include a special section on Names.

This helps in reconstructing family history because religion or ethnicity is shown in the name and philosophy behind it. All three of these names are French, Jacquelyn a possibilty in Roman Catholic registers, the others unlikely.
Reply:This is a great site to find Christian meanings of names.

Reply:I doubt that meanings of names help reconstruct family history.
Reply:Paris is in no way Christian. Paris is named for the Parisii, who were a tribe of Celts.

Jade means "loin." As in your nether regions.

Jacquelyn would have the same meaning as Jack, or John. Like John the Baptist. But again, not Christian. It's Hebrew. It means "God has given."

If you don't consider Jack equal to John, there is another meaning for it that I saw, again Hebrew. In that case it would mean "supplanter."
