What is the meaning of the name Ghana?

The Country of Ghana in West Africa was named after the ancient Ghana Empire. I would like to know what that word Ghana means.

What is the meaning of the name Ghana?
Ghana means: "Warrior King". And Ghana was the title given to the emperors of Wagadou, which is why it became known in Europe and Arabia as the Ghana Empire. It's interesting to note that although present day Ghana took its name from the ancient Ghana Empire, there is no territory common to the two, as Wagadou was located in what is now Southeastern Mauritania, Western Mali, and Eastern Senegal. (The name Wagadou meant 'Land of Herds').
Reply:Upon achieving independence from the United Kingdom in 1957,the name Ghana was chosen for the new nation to reflect the ancient Empire of Ghana that once extended throughout much of west of Africa.
