my wife is giving birth to our second child in a couple of weeks and would like to call him this name but i need to know which one means what, and where the names originate from
Can anyone explain the meaning of the names oshan, ossion or ossian please?
The site that I found says that Ossian is a small deer %26amp; it is Latin in origin:
http://www.babynamesworld.com/browse_by_...
Whereas this site:
http://www.babyhold.com/list/Irish_Baby_...
says that Ossian is Irish - but the meaning is virtually the same - Fawn (a young deer)
I'm struggling to find a meaning of Oshan - I found it on this site
http://www.vornamen-liste.de/first-names...
but the site is not complete %26amp; it didn't link to a meaning, sorry.
Ooh, just found it on here - but as a surname - origin England - around Norfolk:
http://search.swyrich.com/searchresults....
complete with a coat of arms! ( Black with an ermine fess between two silver eagles - not sure what a fess is as the coat of arms is only a sample)
Reply:Ossian is a derivation of a name of Irish origin - see the link attached.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ossian
Many boys in Ireland are named Ois铆n.
Reply:oisin means fawn(young dear) and is irish.
Reply:My favorite baby name website is; www.babynames.com
